Diploma of Higher Professional Technician in Aesthetics, Cosmetics and Well-being

The following may apply for the CTeSP: those who hold a secondary education course or legal equivalent; those who have been approved in the exams specifically directed to assessing the ability of applicants over 23 to attend higher education, exams that were taken within the desired degree, in accordance with the Law no. 64/2006, 21st March; those who have a diploma in technological specialisation or of higher professional technician or another higher education degree that seek to achieve their professional requalification.

Following the implementation of the Bologna Process and the consequent legislation regarding the mobility of students among degrees and higher education institutions, prior learning must be recognized and credited. The prior learning concept comprises all the previous learning/training undertaken in other higher education study cycles in national or international institutions (crediting of certified training), as well as previous professional experience and any post-secondary school training or education. As such, the IPB promotes the crediting of the student’s prior learning when arriving at the institution. Aiming at a quick and full integration of the student in his/her new education programme, the recognition procedures must be submitted when enrolling at the IPB. 2 Curricular Years. 3240 Total hours. 120 ECTS credits, corresponding to 1 credit at 27 hours. Includes a 30 credit internship.

The profile of the programme comprises the development of the technical knowledge and the higher level professional qualification in the education and training area of health and wellness.

The Higher Professional Technician diploma is awarded after a 120-credit study cycle, which includes three training components: general and scientific (25 credits), technical (65 credits), and workplace (30 credits). To complete the course, students must pass all curricular units in the curriculum. The Higher Professional Technician diploma in Aesthetics, Cosmetics, and Wellness is awarded to students who demonstrate, in this area, the skills to design, plan, coordinate, and execute aesthetic, cosmetic, and wellness treatments, after assessing the client's needs, taking into account anatomical and aesthetic principles, as well as health and safety, in a holistic and individualized approach to the client. The student is able to devise creative solutions to abstract problems, following principles of professional ethics.

The Higher Technical Course in Aesthetics, Cosmetic and Well-Being is part of the Health and Well-Being training area and its graduates are prepared to perform technical functions within the profile of the study program.

The holders of a higher professional technician diploma can access to a bachelor's degree and to an integrated master's degree. Access and enrolment is done by means of a special application enshrined in a particular law.
